How We Serve College Students
“I think Heads Up was genuinely the single most memorable and life-changing thing I’ve ever done. It has contributed enormously to who I am today.” – former Heads Up tutor
Heads Up gives local college students the opportunity to serve as tutors and role models to children from low-income neighborhoods.
By partnering children with college students, the kids learn about college at an early age. In the wealthiest area in D.C., 8 in 10 adults have a college degree. In the poorest area, fewer than 1 in 10 have finished college.
Each year, Heads Up recruits over 300 college students tutors from the following universities:
- American University
- Catholic University
- George Washington University
- Georgetown University
- Howard University
- Trinity University
